Hey everybody...just a little message to let you all know I will be on holidays from tomorrow. I'm not sure when we will be back as my husband wants to spend my birthday away from Sydney. How to create a custom html module

  • Access your own blog by selecting 'Edit Your Space'
  • In your browser Navigation Toolbar add to the url: &powertoy=sandbox

Click in for enlarge


For example, the url:
http://spaces.msn.com/members/.../PersonalSpace.aspx?_c02_owner=1&_c=
becomes:
http://spaces.msn.com/members/.../PersonalSpace.aspx?_c02_owner=1&_c=&powertoy=sandbox

  • Click on 'Customize' and select 'Modules'
  • Add the module 'PowerToy: Custom HTML' to the existing modules.

Then You Click Save and you will have a window like the window below then if you have a html code from a picture or something  and paste it in the Custom Html AKA Sandbox

  • Click on the Save button, available in the window.

I have been wondering how people get 1 million or a few thousand views and then i realized they have interesting things on their blog like what people want on their blog but i have a new scheme and i have the guts to tell the world what my new scheme is to make you have 20 or more people veiwing your blog  so if you want a lot of people on your site tell people about my space and then email me on jono_bird12@hotmail.com and i have lots of people just waiting for good spaces to go on like yours so what are you waiting for. Did you know.......

Did you know that it's possible to click a link on a webpage and have it open up a conversation window with someone? We'll use the Messenger Blogger's group email address/IM contact - MessengerBloggers@hotmail.com - as the example address; you'll want to replace it with your own address.
 
If you're familiar with HTML, you might know that you make links using the <A> tag - so, for example, a link to MSN Messenger's home page would look like this:

Instead of putting a plain-ol' http:// web address, you can add almost anything. A common example is a mailto: link that when clicked starts an email, like so:

But why use email when you could use a fancy-shmancy msnim: action! Watch the magic:

only join if you would like extra people viewing your space or are interested in making new contacts.  All you need to do to become
 part of the registry is to request it by asking
"Add Me To The Registry!"

Make your space Public "So other people can view it"

This is something for the MSN Bloggers who are New to it...
 
Many people request me to comment on their space or ask me a question hoping that I will reply on their space. This is not possible if their Space permission setting is put to PRIVATE. The permission setting has to be PUBLIC. Also wondering why not many people or no one comments on your space?
 
To make your Space PUBLIC :
[Do not do this if you do not want to show your photos or blog entries to others and want to protect your privacy]
 
  • Click on 'Edit Your Space '

 

  • Click on Settings

  • From the Tabbed Menu at the top Click on 'Permissons'

  • If your Space is set to Private means only you can see it. But gives you an allow list option. If it was set to Messanger, all your MSN contacts can view it.
  • Make it to 'Public' by clicking on the radio button besides which it says Public.

 

  • Click on the Save Button below
  • You are done !

Note:- If ou do not like your Space to be public you can disable it anytime by following the same steps above but Click on the Private Button instead of Public.

We have a great new gadget to add to your Live.com page.

This gadget allows you to browse photos in photo albums on MSN Spaces. Just specify the name of the space (e.g. if the URL of the Space is http://spaces.msn.com/members/midnightcallerau/ then the space name is 'midnightcaller_au').

You can also browse photo albums from randomly selected spaces.

MSN Spaces Commonly Asked Questions:

 

Q. Why can’t I add Photos to my Space ?

A. Are you using Internet Explorer (v. 6.0 or higher)?  If so, it should work.  At this time, the Photo slideshow part for MSN Spaces is does not work with other browsers such as Firefox, Netscape or Safari or Internet Explorer 5.X

 

Q. How do I change the name (alias) for my Space ?

A. You can not change the alias of your Space without first deleting your existing Space.  Once you delete your existing Space, you can sign up for a new one with your Passport. 

 

Q. Can I have multiple Passports associated with one Space?

A. Currently, only one Passport can be associated with a Space.

 

Q. How do I delete my Space?

A. Sign in to your Space, click on Settings and select the Space Settings tab. At the bottom of the page, click on the “Delete my space” option and confirm.  Reminder that once you chose to delete it, you can’t get the information back.  If you think you might want to return to MSN Spaces in the future, you could set your Space to private so only you can view it.  Then, if you decide in the future that you want to start using Spaces again, you can change the setting to Public or Messenger only.

 

Q. How do I change the color or background of my Space?

A. Changing the color or background of your Space is easy.  Simply sign into your Space, click on Customize and select the Themes tab. Then select the theme from a list of more than 85 that interests you. Be sure to click on the Save button in the top right of the page to apply your new theme. You can also use the Tweak UI Power Toy that is discussed on this site.

 

Q. How can I let other people add entries to my blog ?

A. Currently, MSN Spaces does not support the concept of a group blog and this has been logged as a future feature request.

 

Q. Can I store (audio or video) files on my Space ?

A. MSN Spaces allows you to store Photo files only at this time.

 

Q. My space is showing up in the wrong language, how do I correct this?

A. You can reset the language of your MSN Spaces page by navigating to the following pages:

Q. Why can’t I view Photos in full size on a Space

A. Check your cache setting in your browser- it may be full. To clear the cache, please follow these steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

  3. On the General tab, click “Delete files under Temporary Internet Files.”

  4. Select “Delete all offline content”, and then click OK.

  5. Click Settings.

  6. Under “Check for newer versions of stored pages” , select the “Every visit to the page” option, click OK, and then click OK again.

A guide to the Labels on the media player :

  • Position in sec. - Begin from a specefic second. Eg. Put in 30 and it will begin at the  30 seconds mark of the first song.
  • Times to play  - The number of times to play your song.
  • Rate to play  - The speed of your song. 1 - normal  | 1.5 - fast | 2 - double the speed.
  • Auto start - Do you want your media player to start Automatically ? Tick the box then.
  • Display Mode - Select invisible if you want your media player to be hidden to your viewers. Select none if you want it in a normal mode. Select mini if you want it small and with minimum funtions. Select Full if you want it big and with all functions.
  • Right Click Menus - Disable this [recommended] . If ticked, Then people will get options to the media player and Also your URL is visible to all, when they right click your player.
  • URL - URL or the www. address of a media file.

  1. In the transparency Box, If you put in 100. You space will be fully visible , If you put in 50. It will be translucent. If you put in 0 , It will be invisible. I suggest you don't put 0.
  2. The you can change the colours in many places. But you cant just put in words. You need to put the colour Codes. Click here to get Colour Codes.

If you remove the module, The effect will go away.

What is a url & how to get them

This is nothing to do with modding. But I am sick of people requesting me for URL. So here you go :

What is a URL ?

www.google.com  << that is the URL of Google

In fancy terms:

URL is the Abbreviation of Uniform Resource Locator, the global address of documents and other resources on the World Wide Web.

Now the main reason we spacers care about URL, is to put music or other files on the media player or into your blogs.

  • First it is recommended that you get the media file on your computer.
  • It must be in either of these formats : WMA, WMV, WAV, AVI, MPG, MPEG, MP3 .

If not , Click here to download an encoder and convert the media file into any of the ones above. Encoders can also be used to reduces your file size this greatly improves your media loading time. I use Poikosoft.

  • Now click here to see a bunch of hosting places. You need to host your files online so others can access it. Them merely sitting on your hard disk wont help.

Select a Hosting service.

Sign up.

Upload your media file.

  • After the upload is complete , Go to the place where it was uploaded. Usually its in places like , 'My Files' , 'My Documents' etc.
  • Now you will see the uploaded media as links in your hosting service account.
  • Right click the uploaded media file link & Select  ' copy shortcut '[Internet Explorer] or ' copy link location' [Firefox]

Now paste this link into the place where they ask you for on the media player or any place where its asked in any of my tutorials concerning media files.

Click Save/publish entry.

Done !!

Checklist :

  1. Media file on PC

  2. Media file in acceptable format

  3. Media file uploaded on hosting service

  4. Right URL got.

  5. Paste URL.

Click here to see a slideshow and follow the instruction on it. After that is done. Follow instructions below:

After having got your space search URL [Instruction from slideshow], you need to link it on your space in either a blog etnry, a custom list or custom html module.

 

On a custom list...

  • Create a custom list. [Customize >> modules >> custom list add]
  • Click on the 'Add item' link and put in the info that is required; like , 'link name' = Search my space or Space search; In the URL or web address vlock.. put in the URL got from above [See slideshow]
  • Click 'Add' or 'Save'
  • Done!

In a blog entry...

  • Create a new blog entry.
  • Press the <html> button in the blog editing tools.
  • Paste the code below after substituting the required info, like URL and link name.
  • <a href="space search url here">Search my space or any other name here</a>
  • Press the <html> button again and make any final changes.
  • Publish your blog entry.
  • Done!

In a custom html module...

  • Get one if you dont have one.
  • Paste the code below after substituting the required info, like URL and link name.
  • <a href="space search url here">Search my space or any other name here</a>
  • [optional] You can also link it to pictures or other things. [See other tutorials, all info is on my space if you look a bit closer]
  • click 'Save'.
